The Rhodesians founded the city at 7th century B.C. The
city was the most important harbor of the east coast of
Lycia for years. Phaselis has three main harbors; the North
Harbor, the War Harbor and the Sun Harbor. The most important
one between them is the one that states in South. At the
center of the city, there is a great street that is 20 – 24
m. width. At the South end of this road, there is the Hadrian
door. At both sides of the road there are ways that you
can tour and also shops that you can buy different things.
And near them, there are some public buildings like; Agora,
Theater and Turkish baths. The history of those buildings
is as old as 1st and 2nd B.C. Between the city center and
the Plato that states at 70 m. feet there are water channels.
OLIMPOS
It states at west of Antalya, between Kemer and Adrasan.
You should turn to Ulupınar road that is showed with
a signboard ‘Harabe’ for to find Olimpos from
Antalya – Finike highway. The narrow road that has
a beautiful view can take you to the Olimpus shore. You
should reach the rivulet that passes through Olimpos, after
you pass the rivulet and walk through the wide beach for
to reach at the ruin. The path at the side of the rivulet
will take you to the inside of the rivulet. Çıralı is
the name of the village that is at the side of Olimpos.
Olimpos is a harbor that is founded in 2nd century B.C.
It exists until 15th century A.D. The famous Bellerophontes
legend takes place at here. The antique city is settled
at the both sides of a beautiful valley. At the point that
both the valley and the city reach to the sea there is
a beautiful beach. Çıralı that can be
reached from Olimpos in an hour on foot is an interesting
piece of nature. The mountain that native people call Yanar
there is a natural gas oozing and because of that there
are always flames that are trying to reach to sky for thousands
of years. We suggest people that come here for the fist
time; they should go to Yanar from Çıralı village
with a guide. |
